~ Springfield Police Department Honors Graduates of 2018 Citizens Police Academy

On November 8th, the Springfield Police Department held a ceremony to recognize and honor the 25 graduates of the 2018 Citizens Police Academy. The academy, which aims to provide citizens with a better understanding of how the police department operates and the challenges officers face while serving the community, required participants to complete 30 hours of instruction over an 11-week period.

The course covered a wide range of topics including police policies, crime scene processing, defensive tactics, use of firearms, and organizational structure within the department. The graduates were listed in alphabetical order as Aaron Anthes, Gladys (Jean) Ackley, Angela Anderson, Thomas Batson, Mary Brennfoerder, Deanna Carroll, Tim Cederblom, Heather Doke, Kim Flores, Dustin Gooch, David Johnson, Amber Lawson, Stacy Letterman, Charles Ortiz, Ethan Penrose, Brian Powers, Daniel Provance, Jeffrey Roberts, Charley Shurtz,Kimberly Strope,Mattew Tuma,and Heather Woodburn. Three graduates were not pictured: Chris Wright,Nancy Crandall,and Larry Dinges.

The Springfield Police Department is proud to have these individuals as part of their community and congratulates them on their successful completion of the academy. Applications for the 2019 class will be accepted in the spring.
