Upon his retirement, Ronin had gained quite a reputation within the department. Despite being known for his tough demeanor and biting more cops than bad guys, he had a special bond with Henson and his wife.

Henson fondly remembers Ronin as a "world class curmudgeon" who only showed love to two people in this world - himself and his wife. In retirement, Ronin enjoyed playing tug, going for walks, lounging on the couch, and barking at anything on TV.

Ronin was laid to rest at Lakeland Pet Cemetery at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens where he will be remembered as a loyal member of the SPD who served his community with dedication and bravery.
