TelAve News/10910541
WEST BAY, Honduras - TelAve -- Sun Divers Roatan, the island's first-ever PADI Eco Center, has launched an updated PADI Advanced Open Water course page, giving divers a clear picture of the certification before booking.
Advanced Open Water consists of five adventure dives: two required, Deep and Underwater Navigation, plus three electives divers choose themselves. The course takes two to three days, there is no written exam, and it certifies divers to 30 meters (100 feet), up from the 18-meter (60-foot) Open Water limit. In Roatan, that unlocks the deeper sections of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, including wall and wreck sites below 60 feet.
Divers choose Sun Divers Roatan for professional instruction paired with genuine conservation work. The dive center has been named one of the best operators in the Caribbean by theScuba Diving Magazine Readers Choice Awards and is Roatan's first-ever PADI Eco Center. It's also been honored with TripAdvisor Travelers' Choice awards since 2013 and has won of the Golden Buoy Award every year since 2019, awarded by the SOL International Foundation. Co-owner Natalie Shuman serves on the Roatan Marine Park board. Courses run in small groups, on custom-built boats crewed by long-tenured captains.
