~ Tacoma Venues & Events (TVE) has announced its commitment to supporting free community events by reinvesting a portion of its revenue back into the community. The City of Tacoma's Events and Recognitions Committee (CERC) has approved $90,000 in funding to support 26 organizations in producing public-benefiting events.

The funding, ranging from $2,500 to $5,000 per organization, will help cover direct costs such as traffic control, performers, marketing, and other essential expenses. This decision was made after a competitive and panel-reviewed process where applications were evaluated based on merit, community impact, and accessibility.

"We are thrilled and honored to support these 26 organizations," said CERC Chair Jacob Tice. "It's incredibly important to our committee to help increase access to these wonderful community events. They help celebrate culture, strengthen connections, and create meaningful experiences for everyone in Tacoma."

The funded events reflect Tacoma's unique identity and cultures and aim to strengthen neighborhood connections and vitality. These diverse events also contribute to making Tacoma a welcoming place for people to gather and celebrate.

Some of the organizations that have been awarded funding include the Asia Pacific Cultural Center for their 29th Annual Asia Pacific New Year Celebration featuring Indonesia, the Chinese Reconciliation Project Foundation for their Walk for Reconciliation Against Racism event, and the Rainbow Center for their Tacoma Pride™ Festival.

In addition to monetary support, CERC will also evaluate events for non-monetary support through the City Event Services program. This program provides access to services from the Tacoma Police Department, Tacoma Fire Department, and the City of Tacoma's Public Works and Environmental Services departments that improve crowd control, public safety, and essential event operations.

TVE's commitment to supporting free community events is made possible by setting aside a portion of revenue generated at the Tacoma Dome and Greater Tacoma Convention Center each year. This Special Events Funding program aims to ensure public access to enriching community events and festivals that showcase Tacoma's creativity and liveliness.
