~ The City of Tacoma's Street Operations crew is gearing up for the winter season with their annual snow and ice training. From October 12 to 14, the crew will be actively preparing for potential snowstorms.

On October 12, the crew will focus on setting up equipment, ensuring that everything is in working order. This includes rigging snow and ice equipment to be ready for use.

The following two days, October 13 and 14, will involve active field exercises where the crew will train on operating the equipment. In addition, emergency snow vehicles will be dispatched to navigate through snow routes and traffic.

In case of a snowstorm, the crew has a priority system in place for plowing and de-icing streets. Primary arterial streets will be cleared first, followed by secondary and auxiliary routes. The time it takes to clear these routes will depend on the intensity of the storm and amount of snow or ice accumulation.
