Texas: Governor Abbott Announces Federal Assistance For Hydra Fire In Bosque County
TelAve News/10906611
~ Governor Greg Abbott of Texas has announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved a request for a Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG) for the Hydra Fire in Bosque County. The fire, which has already burned an estimated 1,100 acres and remains 25 percent contained, has threatened homes and infrastructure and prompted local evacuations in Central Texas.
In a statement, Governor Abbott assured Texans that the state will provide all necessary resources to protect its citizens from the Hydra Fire. He also expressed gratitude to the Trump Administration for their assistance and praised the first responders who are working tirelessly on the ground to keep communities safe. The governor urged Texans to remain vigilant, follow guidance from state and local officials, and take precautions to prevent additional wildfires.
The approval of the FMAG makes Texas eligible for 75 percent reimbursement from the federal government for eligible costs associated with wildfire suppression. These grants are designed to support states and local jurisdictions in mitigating, managing, and controlling fires that have the potential to become major disasters.

Currently, state and local response personnel are actively engaged in suppression, containment, and public safety operations for the Hydra Fire. The fire has already prompted evacuations of homes in the surrounding area, with over 200 homes being threatened by its spread. In response to this threat, Governor Abbott has directed state wildfire response resources to be deployed by the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) in support of local efforts.
The Texas Emergency Management Council agencies are also closely monitoring increased wildfire conditions across the state. Texans can access wildfire safety tips at TexasReady.gov, stay updated on current fire information at tfs.tamu.edu, and report any wildfire damage at damage.tdem.texas.gov.
As firefighters continue their efforts to contain and extinguish the Hydra Fire, Governor Abbott reassures Texans that their safety remains a top priority for both state and federal agencies.
