Texas: Governor Abbott Announces SBA Assistance For Fort Worth Apartment Fire
TelAve News/10869624
~ Fort Worth, TX- Governor Greg Abbott has announced that the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has approved his request for a disaster declaration for those affected by the Cooper Apartment Fire last month. This declaration will provide financial assistance to Texans who sustained damages to their property during the fire.
According to Governor Abbott, "Texans affected by the Cooper Apartment Fire are now eligible to receive financial assistance to repair damages sustained to their property during the fire." He also expressed his gratitude towards the Texas Division of Emergency Management for working with federal partners to ensure that Texans have the necessary resources to recover from this disaster. The governor encourages all those who have been impacted by the fire to apply for low-interest loans in order to continue their recovery process.
The SBA has granted access to its Home Disaster Loans, Business Physical Disaster Loans, and Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program. These loans will provide low-interest rates for qualifying individuals who have suffered damage during the fire. Interested applicants can apply online at sba.gov/disaster or call SBA's Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955 for more information on disaster assistance. For those with hearing impairments, they can dial 7-1-1 to access telecommunications relay services.

Completed applications should be mailed to the U.S. Small Business Administration's Processing and Disbursement Center at 14925 Kingsport Road, Fort Worth, TX 76155.
To further assist those affected by the fire, SBA representatives will open a Disaster Loan Outreach Center starting Monday, July 21 at 12:00 PM. The center will be located at 1100 Hemphill Street in Fort Worth and will be open on weekdays from 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM. Representatives will be available to explain the application process, assist with completing applications, and answer any questions about the disaster loan programs.
Governor Abbott's request for the SBA declaration was made on July 16 after an analysis of the damage sustained in impacted communities. It was determined that the damage caused by the fire met the federally required thresholds for SBA assistance.
Texans affected by the Cooper Apartment Fire are urged to take advantage of this opportunity for financial assistance and to begin their recovery process. The SBA is committed to helping those in need and will continue to work with state and federal partners to provide support during this difficult time.
