~ Governor Greg Abbott has recently appointed Amber Cardenas to the Pediatric Acute-Onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome Advisory Council for a seven-year term. The council, which advises the commission and legislature on matters related to pediatric acute-onset neuropsychiatric syndrome, will benefit from Cardenas' expertise and experience.

Cardenas, a resident of Burnet, is a licensed marriage and family therapist at Peace of Mind for Wellness and Family Counseling, Inc. She also serves as the president of BBWT Restaurant Group. In addition to her professional roles, she is an active member of her community, serving on the Burnet Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees and participating in organizations such as the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, Highland Lakes Service League, and St. John's Catholic Church.

Cardenas holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The University of Texas at San Antonio and a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University.
