Texas: Governor Abbott Appoints Five To Quantum Initiative Advisory Committee

~ Governor Greg Abbott has recently made appointments to the Quantum Initiative Advisory Committee, a committee responsible for developing a strategic plan to promote the quantum economy in Texas. The appointments include Victor Fishman, Ph.D., Lin Zhou, Ph.D., Richard "Ross" Coffman, John Josephakis, and Jeff Prevost, Ph.D.
Victor Fishman, Ph.D., from Allen, has been appointed for a term set to expire on January 31, 2027. He currently serves as the executive director of the Texas Research Alliance and is a board member of both the Dallas Innovation Alliance and the North Texas Innovation Alliance. With an extensive background in chemistry and experience as a veteran of the Vietnam War, Fishman brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the committee. He holds degrees from the University of Miami, Clemson University, and The University of Texas at Austin.
Lin Zhou, Ph.D., from Lubbock, has also been appointed for a term set to expire on January 31, 2027. Currently serving as the vice president and chief information officer at Texas Tech University, Zhou is also a founding member of the Texas Quantum Summit and serves on the board of directors for Lonestar Education and Research Network. With certifications in project management and experience serving on advisory committees for strategic planning in information technology, Zhou is well-equipped to contribute to the development of a strategic plan for promoting quantum economy in Texas.

Richard "Ross" Coffman from Austin has been appointed for a term set to expire on January 31, 2029. As president of Forward Edge AI and an Honorable Discharge recipient from the United States Army, Coffman brings valuable leadership skills to the committee. He holds degrees from Centre College and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
John Josephakis from Dallas has been appointed for a term set to expire on January 31, 2031. Currently serving as global vice president at NVIDIA, Josephakis holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from St. Edwards University. With a minor in Mechanical Engineering and experience in the technology industry, Josephakis will bring a unique perspective to the committee.
Jeff Prevost, Ph.D., from San Antonio has been appointed for a term set to expire on January 31, 2031. As an associate professor at UT San Antonio, Prevost also serves as vice president for the Cyber Manufacturing Innovation Institute and executive director for the Open Cloud Institute. He is a founding member of the Texas Quantum Summit and represents UT San Antonio on the UT System Quantum Planning Committee. With degrees from Texas A&M University and UT San Antonio, Prevost's expertise in electrical engineering will be valuable to the committee.
