Texas: Governor Abbott Appoints Four To State Independent Living Council

~ Governor Greg Abbott has recently made appointments to the State Independent Living Council, with Mollie Witt being appointed and Rebecca "Hunter" Adkins, Erik Dally, and Lisa Thompson being reappointed. These individuals will serve on the council for terms set to expire in 2027 and 2028.
Mollie Witt, a resident of Cypress, brings a wealth of experience to the council. She is a former member of the Education Advisory Committee of the Houston Apartment Association and has volunteered with various organizations such as WorkFaith Ministries and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Witt also has a background in business and human resources, having studied at the University of Houston-Victoria.
Rebecca "Hunter" Adkins, from Lakeway, is no stranger to serving her community. She is a volunteer at the Ride On Center for Kids and was previously a member of the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities. Adkins also shares her knowledge as a guest lecturer at Texas A&M Veterinary School, where she teaches physical therapy students about equine assisted activities for people with disabilities. In addition to her volunteer work, Adkins has been recognized as Ms Wheelchair Texas and 2019 Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International Rider of the Year.

Erik Dally hails from Poolville and has dedicated his life to helping those with special needs. He is the founder and director of Into The Right Hands and serves as Special Needs Pastor for Boundless, Out of Bounds, and REVIVE ministries. Dally's passion for serving others extends beyond his professional roles as he volunteers with organizations such as YMCA Camp Carter, Kiwanis International, Joseph Thomas Foundation, Loaves and Fishes, Joni and Friends, C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation, and Aktion Club. He holds degrees in Business Administration and Public Relations & Advertising from Texas Christian University (TCU).
Lisa Thompson brings a diverse background to the council, with experience in both the private and public sectors. She currently serves as the External Affairs Officer for Southwestern Electric Power Company and is an adjunct professor at the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana. Thompson is also involved in her community, serving on the board of Opportunities, Inc. and as a member of the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from the University of Central Arkansas, a Master of Public Service from the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service, and certificates in public communication from TCU and public management from Texas State University.
These individuals have been chosen by Governor Abbott to serve on the State Independent Living Council due to their dedication to serving others and their communities. Their terms will expire in 2027 and 2028, respectively, as they work towards improving the lives of those with disabilities in Texas.
