~ Dallas psychiatrist, Gonzalo J. Perez-Garcia, M.D., has been appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to serve on the Correctional Managed Health Care Committee. The term for this appointment will expire on February 1, 2029. The Committee is responsible for coordinating the development of statewide policies for correctional health care within the criminal justice system.

Dr. Perez-Garcia brings a wealth of experience to this role, currently serving as System Medical Director for Behavioral Health at Texas Health Resources and as a psychiatrist with TeamHealth. He is also an active volunteer with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), including participating in their NAMIWalks initiative.

Dr. Perez-Garcia received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and his Doctor of Medicine from Baylor College of Medicine, where he completed his psychiatry residency. His expertise and dedication make him a valuable addition to the Correctional Managed Health Care Committee.
