Texas: Governor Abbott Reappoints Bangor To Advisory Council On Postsecondary Education For Persons With Intellectual And Developmental Disabilities

~ Austin, Texas- Governor Greg Abbott has recently announced the reappointment of Aaron Bangor, Ph.D. to the Advisory Council on Postsecondary Education for Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. This term is set to expire on August 31, 2027.

The Council was established by the 86th Texas Legislature with the aim of addressing barriers that hinder individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities from accessing higher education opportunities.

Dr. Bangor, a resident of Austin, brings a wealth of experience to this role. He currently serves as the Principal User Experience Researcher at AT&T and is also the vice chair of the Continuing Advisory Committee for Special Education. He is a member of both the International Association of Accessibility Professionals and Human Factors and Ergonomics Society.

In addition to his professional roles, Dr. Bangor is actively involved in promoting disability rights and accessibility. He serves as the chair of Disability: IN Central Texas and has also worked as a technical and policy expert for accessibility and disability issues with organizations such as the Federal Communications Commission and Council of State Governments.

Dr. Bangor's expertise in this field is further highlighted by his board certifications as both a human factors professional and an accessibility professional. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering, as well as a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Human Factors Engineering from Virginia Tech.

With his extensive knowledge and experience, Dr. Bangor will undoubtedly continue to make valuable contributions to the Advisory Council on Postsecondary Education for Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
