Texas: Governor Abbott Reappoints Coppersmith, Halman To Department of Information Resources

~ Governor Greg Abbott has recently announced the reappointment of two individuals to the Department of Information Resources. Walter "Frank" Coppersmith, III and Keith Halman will continue to serve on the board until February 1, 2031.

Coppersmith, a resident of Round Rock, brings a wealth of experience to the board as CEO of Smarter Reality, LLC. He is also a member of various professional organizations such as the State Bar of Texas and the Maryland State Bar Association. In addition, he is actively involved in his local community as a member of the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce. Coppersmith's impressive resume also includes past leadership roles in organizations such as the International Game Developers Association–Austin Chapter and the Association of Corporate Counsel–Austin.

With an educational background in electrical engineering, business administration, and law from prestigious institutions such as The Citadel, Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and Samford University Cumberland School of Law, Coppersmith is well-equipped to contribute to the Department's mission.

Joining Coppersmith on the board is Keith Halman from Lubbock. Halman currently serves as associate vice chancellor and chief information officer for the Texas Tech University System. He also sits on the board of Lonestar Education and Research Network. Halman holds degrees in information systems and management information systems from Texas Tech University.

These appointments are subject to Senate confirmation. With their extensive backgrounds and expertise in information resources management, Coppersmith and Halman are poised to make valuable contributions to the Department's efforts in coordinating, monitoring, and directing information resources within state government.
