The Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) recognized Texas as one of the most veteran-friendly states by awarding them with the State Award for Veterans Services. This award acknowledges Texas' efforts in passing pro-veteran state-level legislation, providing cost-of-living support for veterans, and ensuring employment and retirement security.
Joining Governor Abbott at the event were VVA Legislative Director Jim Brennan, VVA National Secretary Bill Meeks, and members of American Legion Post 76. The governor was presented with a plaque to commemorate this achievement.
The American Legion has been advocating for veterans' benefits, patriotism, and community service for over a century. This recognition from VVA further solidifies Texas' dedication to supporting its veteran population.
Photos from the event will be made available to media outlets upon request. As Governor Abbott continues to prioritize veteran services in Texas, it is clear that no state loves its veterans more than the Lone Star State.
