TelAve News/10868136
~ As severe flooding continues to impact communities in Texas along the Hill Country, Governor Greg Abbott has issued a statement expressing his concern and providing reassurance that the state is taking necessary measures to assist those affected.

In his statement, Governor Abbott stated, "Texas is providing all necessary resources to Kerrville, Ingram, Hunt and the entire Texas Hill Country dealing with these devastating floods." He also urged Texans to heed guidance from state and local officials and monitor local forecasts to avoid driving into flooded areas.

In preparation for the storms, the State of Texas had already activated emergency response resources in Central Texas. However, with continued heavy rainfall and flash flooding threats, additional resources have been mobilized.

These resources include swiftwater rescue boat squads from the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (Texas A&M Task Force 1 and Texas A&M Task Force 3), game wardens, rescue boat teams, and helicopters with hoist capability from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The Texas Department of Public Safety has also deployed helicopters with hoist capabilities, Texas Highway Patrol Troopers, and their Tactical Marine Unit.
