According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and Texas Workforce Commission, the state has gained 198,300 nonfarm jobs in the last 12 months, solidifying its position as the nation's leader in annual job growth.

Governor Abbott expressed his gratitude for the strength of the Texas economy and credited it for providing more job opportunities for its residents than ever before. He also acknowledged the resilience of Texans in the face of recent disasters and thanked fellow Americans for their support during these challenging times.

The latest employment data shows that Texas has reached new records for both its labor force and number of employed individuals, including self-employed workers. The state's labor force now stands at a historic high of 15,850,100 while 15,210,500 Texans are currently employed.

Furthermore, Texas' unemployment rate dropped to an impressive 4.0% in June, showcasing the state's strong economic growth and stability.

Governor Abbott also emphasized his commitment to helping those affected by recent floods by providing access to Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA). Individuals living in designated disaster areas can apply for DUA benefits online through Unemployment Benefit Services or by calling TWC at (800) 939-6631.

Applications must be submitted by September 4th, 2025 to be eligible for DUA benefits under this declaration.
