TelAve News/10899013
~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott proudly shared that Texas has been awarded the state's 13th Gold Shovel Award by Area Development magazine. This prestigious award recognizes Texas for its exceptional efforts in attracting high-value business investment projects that will bring a significant number of new jobs to communities across the state.
Governor Abbott expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating, "Texas again wins gold for new jobs and business investment. Our state's track record of success is a testament to our strong business climate, robust infrastructure, and highly skilled workforce. I thank Area Development magazine for this honor and look forward to continued economic growth and opportunities for Texans."
Area Development magazine recognized Texas with the Gold Shovel Award for its impressive $9 billion in capital investment for high-value expansion and relocation projects in 2025. These projects are expected to create over 9,700 new jobs in various industries.
Some notable Projects of the Year in Texas include Wistron's $761 million capital investment creating 800 jobs in Fort Worth, MTU Aero Engines AG's $129 million capital investment creating 1,200 jobs in Fort Worth, and Scotiabank's $60 million capital investment creating 1,020 jobs in Dallas.
