Tom Dancey selected as Springfield Public Works Assistant Director

~ Springfield Public Works has announced the appointment of Tom Dancey as the new Assistant Director over operations, effective January 11th. Dancey will be taking over for outgoing Assistant Director Eric Claussen, who has been named Assistant City Manager of Beauford, South Carolina.

Dancey brings with him a wealth of experience in engineering, with a total of 30 years under his belt. He has been a part of the Public Works Department for almost two decades, serving in various roles such as Principal Engineer over Transportation Management and most recently as Principal Engineer over General Services. A Springfield native and graduate of Kickapoo High School, Dancey holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology. He is also a registered Professional Engineer and Professional Traffic Operations Engineer.

According to Public Works Director Dan Smith, Dancey's extensive experience and strong leadership skills make him the perfect fit for the role. "Throughout his career at the City and other professional organizations, Tom has proven himself to be a knowledgeable, collaborative, and trusted professional," says Smith. "He is highly respected by his colleagues and members of the community for his thoughtful approach, sound judgment, and commitment to public service."

In regards to his new position, Dancey expressed his excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to contribute further to the department's mission of serving the community. "It's an honor to be part of our amazing Public Works team," says Dancey. "I am looking forward to working together with my colleagues as we continue our important work."
