Disputed Calls and "Verbal Authorization" Claims Prompt Escalated Consumer-Protection Actions
OAK PARK, Ill. - TelAve -- r. Tracey Bond, an Oak Park resident, confirmed that she is reporting an unauthorized charge and escalating consumer-protection actions following disputed interactions with the North Riverside loan office of Heights Finance.
Bond stated that during a December 22 call with the company, she spoke with representatives identified as Sabrina and Christian and did not provide verbal, written, or recorded authorization for any electronic debit. She further stated that no disclosure was provided regarding a specific debit amount, debit date, or debit frequency.
After an electronic funds transfer was processed using stored card credentials retained by the company, Bond contacted the office again. During a follow-up call on December 31, Bond stated that the same representative reiterated a disputed claim of verbal authorization and engaged in conduct she described as yelling and talking over her while she objected to the characterization of consent. Bond stated that contemporaneous audio documentation of both calls has been preserved.

The disputed transaction was routed through a debit card issued by Cash App, according to Bond, who stated that she immediately notified the card issuer, submitted a sworn affidavit of non-authorization, and initiated formal review through consumer-protection channels.
Bond also stated that she provided notice that, absent reversal of the disputed charge by midday, she would proceed with issuing a public news alert to ensure transparency and accountability. With year-end and holiday closures imminent, Bond confirmed that she is taking escalated actions to preserve timelines, documentation, and review rights.
Bond stated that the matter remains under formal dispute and review and that she is limiting public comment to verified facts.
