LAKELAND, Fla. - TelAve -- The United Grid League will close its 2026 season Oct. 3-4 at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland, where two days of playoff competition will determine the league's next champion after one of its most competitive seasons to date.

From New York to Texas, the standings kept shifting, new teams broke through, and close finishes kept the playoff picture open deep into the season. The result is a championship field that looks very different from a year ago, with three teams reaching the postseason for the first time. One of the season's biggest turning points came during New York's home weekend at American Dream. Palm Beach and Tampa Bay finished tied at 19-19, sending the match to a tiebreak race before an issue with the time cap led to a league-wide review and updates to match procedures before the regular season resumed.

The 2026 season also marked a major step in UGL's national visibility, with the United Grid League making its national broadcast debut as part of ESPN's The Ocho programming (https://espnpressroom.com/press-release/espn8-the-ocho-returns-for-its-10th-anniversary-august-6-9/) and later expanding that reach with live competition on Sports Illustrated TV.

Championship weekend will be a full two-day event built around the title race and opportunities for athletes, fans, and families to participate. The expo floor will feature vendors, fitness and strength events, family programming and entertainment for kids throughout both days.

• For the first time, the American Grid Trials (https://unitedgridleague.com/first-in-person-american-grid-trials-2026/) will be held in person. Traditionally completed remotely and submitted online, the Trials will give 40 athletes the opportunity to test across strength, bodyweight, and utility disciplines while UGL coaches, team owners, and players are in the building.
• All Levels Grid Community Play (https://unitedgridleague.com/all-levels-grid-co...) will also put fans, gym members and recreational athletes onto the regulation Grid used for the championship. Participants can register individually or with a group and will be placed on teams based on ability, with 40 spots available per session.
• Strength Sports America will host The Strength of 3 (https://strengthtech.app/en/competitions/ssa-pr...), featuring the log clean and jerk, atlas stone over bar, and deadlift, along with the Future Titan Games (https://strengthtech.app/en/competitions/ssa-pr...), a youth strongman competition for athletes ages 4 to 12.
• A two-day United Grid League Cornhole Open will run alongside the championship, with $1,000 in cash prizes and room for 28 teams. This doubles tournament follows the rules of the American Cornhole League (https://iplaycornhole.com/) and includes pool play, bracket competition, and a Sunday final.
