Virtue Recovery Killeen Sponsors 4th Annual "Don't Walk Alone" Event to Support Veterans

TelAve News/10879877
KILLEEN, Texas - TelAve -- On November 8th from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the Carl Levin Park Amphitheater in Harker Heights will echo with footsteps of solidarity as Veterans, families, and residents gather for the 4th Annual "Don't Walk Alone" event. The walk shines a light on Veteran suicide and reminds every service member that they are never alone.

Walking with Purpose

Born from a simple but powerful idea—connection saves lives—"Don't Walk Alone" offers Veterans a space to be seen and supported. For many, the transition from military to civilian life brings invisible wounds of grief, isolation, and silence. This walk stands as a defiant answer to that silence.

"This walk is about moments," said Dr. Rajesh Harripersad, U.S. Army Retired and Regional Executive Director of Virtue Recovery Killeen. "Every step says to a Veteran, 'We see you. We're walking beside you.'"

Led by Warriors

This year's event will be led by Command Sergeant Major (Ret.) Mellissa McFrazier, joined by Vietnam Veteran Maggie McNutt and her loyal companion Zeva.

Music, Memories & Meaning

Live music by Junior Vibes will fill the park with rhythms of hope. A live National Anthem performance and a moment of silence will honor those lost to suicide. Complimentary coffee and pastries, provided by Virtue Recovery Killeen, encourage comfort and connection among attendees.

Honoring and Serving Veterans

Virtue Recovery Killeen's support extends beyond sponsorship—it's a reflection of their mission to walk beside Veterans every day.

"We believe in showing up for our Veterans not just in treatment centers but out in the community where healing continues," said a Virtue Recovery representative.

"We owe our freedom to those who sacrificed; now, we dedicate ourselves to serving them with compassion and respect," added Dr. Harripersad.

Harker Heights Mayor Michael Blomquist underscored the city's strength and support for Veterans, stating,

"When we walk side by side, we're showing that this community stands shoulder to shoulder, not just in words, but in our actions."
