He says (in Canterbury ahead of the official ceremonies) "In 2018, they said it will take a generation or decades but we said with God, all this are possible, and replied it will take a few years before for FEMALE Archbishop  to emerge"

"This is a victory for equity, justice, dignity and women's leadership. Every schoolgirl should be able to look at this moment and know that she belongs in every room, including boardrooms, where leadership is shaped."

Prof Imafidon said the appointment is more than a church milestone. He described it as a public signal that female suppression is over and that leadership belongs to all people, regardless of gender.

"This is a reference point for generations," he said. "If a 1,400-year barrier can be broken, then no institution should hold onto outdated ideas about who can lead."

He added that the day should be remembered, taught and celebrated across schools, churches and public life.
