HAZLET, N.J. - TelAve -- In this symposium, HF nurses will be provided with education, through lecture and "real-world" case discussion, that will enable them to 1) use potassium binders effectively and safely with fundamental knowledge about their profiles and clinical trial evidence, and 2) communicate key information to patients about the reasons for initiating potassium binders, and using them long-term with RAAS is to reduce their risk of major adverse outcomes.

• Recognize the relationship of hyperkalemia (or fear of hyperkalemia) and underuse and underdosing of RAASis in HF
• Explain the relationship between down-titration or discontinuation of RAASis and clinical outcomes
• Explain the key characteristics of, and clinical evidence with novel potassium binders
• Identify HF patients who would benefit from novel potassium binders for the treatment of hyperkalemia
