5,000 University Of California Workers Join Teamsters Local 2010 In 12 Months!

Newly represented employees are now bargaining for better wages, stronger benefits, job security, and workplace protections.
OAKLAND, Calif. - TelAve -- More than 5,000 workers in 28 job classifications at the University of California have joined Teamsters Local 2010 since June 2025, making the local one of the fastest-growing unions in the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
The newly represented workers are beginning negotiations for improved wages, reduced benefit costs, overtime protections, job security, and greater respect in the workplace.
Workers in the 28 job classifications had been misclassified by the University of California in a way that denied them union-negotiated wages, benefits, and the right to strike. Over the past year, the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) issued multiple unit modification orders restoring these employees to Teamsters representation.
"I'm happy that our title is now part of the union because it helps ensure pay and raises are applied consistently," said Jacque Word, an Administrative Officer 4 at UC San Francisco. "Having guaranteed annual increases provides reassurance that our work will continue to be recognized year after year."

"Teamsters Local 2010 welcomes our new sisters and brothers," said Jason Rabinowitz, Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 2010. "We are especially pleased that they will immediately benefit from Teamsters representation, including the strong wages, workplace protections, and rights secured through collective bargaining."
Each newly represented group will now elect a bargaining committee and begin negotiating salary ranges, step placement, and other contract provisions.
