Adfa Launches "code On The Go," The First Professional Phone-native Ide

BELMONT, Calif. - TelAve -- App Dev for All (ADFA) announced Release 1 availability of Code on the Go, a free and open-source Android integrated development environment (IDE) that runs entirely on a phone.
Unlike traditional app development, which requires an expensive workstation and high-speed internet, Code on the Go empowers developers to write, build, and debug Android apps directly on an Android phone or tablet, without a laptop, remote desktop, or cloud-based IDE.
"For billions of people around the world, the phone is their only computer. We want to empower anyone, anywhere, to build the apps they want and need," said David Schachter, App Dev for All's founder.
The environment includes a specialized interface and innovative features designed for small-screen productivity, including a "sketch-to-UI" system that uses computer vision to convert hand-drawn layouts into functional code.
Code on the Go has been available to early adopters and beta testers since 2025, and a community of developers has been actively using it to test out and build real applications during that period. Pre-release feedback shaped the features and improvements included in Release 1. R1 represents the project's first production-ready release.

One example of an app built with Code on the Go is Sriboard – Sinhala Keyboard, built by Prabath Kumara using his phone as his only development environment. Sriboard is an enhanced Android keyboard designed for users who type in both Sinhala (a language of Sri Lanka) and English.
"Here's an app built entirely on a phone, solving a real problem, published in the Google Play Store," said Schachter. "This is not a demo or a proof of concept. It's a developer creating an app he wants and needs, using the tools he has: his phone and Code on the Go."
In a Telegram message to the Code on the Go team, Kumara said "I owe this milestone entirely to your platform and your hard work. Thank you for empowering ordinary guys like me to achieve something this big right from our phones. You guys are literally changing lives!"
Code on the Go R1 is free and open-source software. It is available at no cost, with no advertising, and no user tracking. The links below will take you to the APK download, our GitHub location, tutorial videos on YouTube, etc. Developer feedback can be directed to feedback@appdevforall.org.
