AI Is Scraping and Stealing Nonprofit Ideas. Instant IP® Launches Protect the Orgᴵᴾ to Help
TelAve News/10900086
Instant IP offers free IP credit to NGOs and Nonprofits so they can protect the original strategies, programs, and content that underpin their mission.
COLUMBUS, Ohio - TelAve -- Nonprofits and NGOs exist to serve and solve some of the world's greatest problems. But according to Kary Oberbrunner, CEO of Instant IP, many organizations are unknowingly sitting on valuable intellectual property that may already be at risk in the age of artificial intelligence.
That is why Instant IP has launched Protect the Orgᴵᴾ, a new campaign designed to help nonprofits, NGOs, charities, and mission-driven organizations identify, protect, and leverage their ideas.
"Nonprofits often believe they do not have intellectual property because they are not traditional businesses," said Oberbrunner. "But their programs, curricula, strategies, donor campaigns, training materials, frameworks, events, videos, and messaging are all forms of differentiation. And differentiation is intellectual property."

Oberbrunner knows the nonprofit world personally. Both of his parents worked in nonprofit organizations, and his first 12-year career was in the nonprofit sector before becoming an entrepreneur and author. Today, he says the risk facing nonprofits is greater than ever because AI systems require fresh human-created data to continue improving.
"AI is not bad. It is a powerful tool," Oberbrunner said. "But AI models need new data. If organizations are not careful, their original ideas can be scraped, trained on, repackaged, and used without their knowledge, permission, or compensation."
Protect the Orgᴵᴾ helps organizations defend their mission-critical assets by using Instant IP's blockchain-based protection system. The platform allows nonprofits and NGOs to create a timestamped, tamper-resistant record of their original work faster, easier, and more affordably than traditional methods.
Instant IP is also offering nonprofit organizations a free IP credit, special discounts, and an opportunity to create a lifetime income stream by sharing the tool with other mission-driven leaders.

Oberbrunner believes this is especially important as wearable AI devices, smart glasses, pens, rings, pendants, watches, and always-on recording tools become more common.
"Your ideas are either protected or they are training someone else's model," he said. "The organizations doing the most good in the world should not be the easiest to exploit."
The Protect the Orgᴵᴾ campaign is built around a simple message: nonprofits should not wait until they are large to protect their intellectual property. They become stronger, more sustainable, and more respected by protecting what makes them unique now.
"If you want others to take your nonprofit seriously, you need to take your intellectual property seriously," Oberbrunner said. "You do not protect your IP when you are big. You become big by protecting your IP."
