Oberbrunner knows the nonprofit world personally. Both of his parents worked in nonprofit organizations, and his first 12-year career was in the nonprofit sector before becoming an entrepreneur and author. Today, he says the risk facing nonprofits is greater than ever because AI systems require fresh human-created data to continue improving.

"AI is not bad. It is a powerful tool," Oberbrunner said. "But AI models need new data. If organizations are not careful, their original ideas can be scraped, trained on, repackaged, and used without their knowledge, permission, or compensation."

Oberbrunner believes this is especially important as wearable AI devices, smart glasses, pens, rings, pendants, watches, and always-on recording tools become more common.
