CHENNAI, India - TelAve -- Sports analytics teams, AI developers, broadcasters, clubs and research organisations today will be able to transform football video into accurate and structured training and performance data with the introduction of a dedicated Football Annotation Tool from Annotation Support.

The new tool integrates three key capabilities – player tracking, football eventing, and quality control – into one workflow to produce high-quality data for training and testing computer vision and machine learning models.

Designed to be used with Football AI Workflows

The challenges of football are that players move quickly, there are often occlusions, many athletes look similar, the camera angle changes constantly, and interactions between teams are complex. To meet these demands, Annotation Support has developed the Football Annotation Tool, which allows teams to annotate the ball, players and important events of a football match faster, more consistently and more accurately.

• Pose and biomechanics Labelling

Quality Control at the Core

One of the main highlights of the launch is the built-in quality-control system of the tool. In Annotation Support, review, validation and correction are not performed as a separate step in the process, but are integrated into the annotation process.

The QC layer aims to enhance the quality of teams' labels, standardise the definition of classes, check for continuity in tracking and ensure the consistency of event labels across large video datasets, using the same football-specific standards. This is especially crucial if there is no consistent ground truth, which directly impacts model accuracy and downstream analytics when training models.

A company said that annotations about football are not just about drawing boxes around players. The Football Annotation Tool is designed to be scalable while maintaining the quality of the information. "Identities, accurate event definitions and repeatable data quality checks are essential for the analysts."
