Dedicated missionary enters eternal life after 74 years of service
HOLLISTON, Mass. - TelAve -- It is with deep sadness that the US Xaverian Missionaries announce the entrance into eternal life of Fr. Francis Signorelli, sx, on February 7, 2026, at Milford Regional Medical Center, Milford, MA. A missionary of the United States and Brazil (Amazonia), he was 93 years old. Francis was born in France on September 5, 1932. He entered the apostolic schools of the Xaverian Missionaries in Italy and made his first Religious and Missionary Profession on September 12, 1952. He was assigned to the United States Province and made his Perpetual Profession in Franklin, WI, on August 15, 1958, and was ordained a priest on February 2, 1959. He remained in the US for 15 years, serving as spiritual director, bursar, rector of the WI community, Regional Councilor, and Vice-Regional Superior.
The General Directorate then assigned Francis to the Province of Northern Brazil, where he served as a parish priest and was elected Regional Superior from 1978 through 1983.
Fr. Francis was elected Vicar General of the Xaverian Missionaries headquartered in Rome from 1983 to 1989. Subsequently, he was assigned to the United States Province, where he was elected Regional Councilor (1990-1993) and Regional Superior (1993-2000). After his term ended, he was elected rector of the Xaverian community in Holliston (2000-2003). He served as Administrator of the Fatima Shrine (2003-2014). Francis remained in the Xaverian community of Holliston, performing various services and ministries until the day the Lord called him to His home.
