"I wanted this book to feel honest," Martinez says. "Not polished for show. Just real. These poems come from my experiences, my struggles, and my hopes. My wish is that readers see themselves somewhere in these pages."

Born near the Rio Bravo in Matamoros, Mexico, Martinez immigrated to the United States as a child and grew up in California. His background and personal journey shape much of his writing. He draws from both hardship and beauty, offering poetry that feels grounded while reaching toward something greater.
