Applications now open for the Tommy Bohanon Foundation Sports Equipment Grant

N FT MYERS, Fla. - TelAve -- The Tommy Bohanon Foundation is now accepting applications from Southwest Florida school-based athletic programs for its Sports Equipment Grant. These programs can receive funding or equipment for their athletes through the Foundation. Applications are available through Sept. 18.
To complete the application process, applicants must have the following information:
"We're honored to support local athletic programs each year," said Foundation President Tommy Bohanon. "Sports can play an important role in shaping students' lives and helping them grow into confident, driven adults. Through this grant, we're giving young athletes the tools and opportunities they need to dream big and reach their full potential."

This initiative is part of the Foundation's ongoing efforts to empower youth through sports and ensure that every child can participate, regardless of financial constraints. Over $260,000 has been awarded to nearly a dozen schools since the grant's inception in 2018.

The Tommy Bohanon Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting young athletes reach their highest potential on and off the playing field. Former NFL fullback Tommy Bohanon returned to his hometown in Southwest Florida to pursue his vision of ending generational poverty for at-risk youth. To complete the application process, applicants must have the following information:
- Copy of the proposed program's budget for the 2026-27 school year.
- A letter from the athletic director or a school administrator, on the school's official letterhead, acknowledging that the program is requesting funding.
- Information about the coaches/staff who are involved with the athletic program. This should include years working at the school, experience, position and any special accolades they have received.
- Any additional information or documents pertinent for the proposed program to be selected as a Sports Equipment Grant Recipient.
