POMPTON PLAINS, N.J. - TelAve -- New Jersey-based film distributor BayView Entertainment, Inc., known for a long line of esoteric horror hits in every sub-genre, darkens terror fans' doorways once more with the latest from writer-director Tim Novotny, The Mephistophiliac.

Co-written with Novotny's star, Kevin Winstead, the film explodes in a fury of terrifying frights, emotional insights, and black comedy takes that bring to light serious issues like alcoholism, anger, and desperately lashing out while feeling mentally unstable.

It all comes to life on screen when an alcoholic finds a horrific way to battle his demons, adopting a homicidal, hellish alter-ego that becomes the solution to his issues… and a terror to all around him. Will his psychotic turn obliterate his addiction, or merely replace it with bloodlust?

Helping to bring the twisted tale to life is scream queen stalwart, Felissa Rose, who has appeared in several films distributed by BayView Entertainment; and renowned ambassador of outrageous cinema, Joe Bob Briggs, the king of B-movie and drive-in film reviewers.

When reviewed by the team at Neon Trash Productions, the trio lauded it for its "local ingenuity, dedication, a ton of heart behind the camera as well as acting and cinematography... the gore was off the charts." They went on to declare, "If we could summarize this movie, it is Kevin Winstead unleashed. Great job, guys!"

Combining uneasy psychological dread with splatters of gore, the claustrophobic, unhinged essence of The Mephistophiliac earns it a place alongside today's zeitgeist horror hits like Obsession and Backrooms.

"We made this movie because it was the perfect time and opportunity to explore themes of social conditioning and mental health," says Novotny. "It's a film that brings a castrated society to its knees at gunpoint and pulls the trigger... not just a movie, but a mirror image of the world we live in with a pinch of levity for entertainment purposes."
