Boston: Urban Wilds Strategic Plan - Request for Proposal

~ Boston, MA - The Boston Urban Wilds and Natural Areas Program is set to receive a new strategic plan that will guide its mission to protect, restore, and maintain natural areas for conservation and passive recreation. The program, managed by the Boston Parks and Recreation Department in collaboration with the Boston Conservation Commission within the Environment Department, oversees stewardship of 30 "urban wild" properties.

The selected team will work in partnership with these two city departments to develop a structured and actionable plan for the program's strategic and sustainable growth. This includes best practices for program and resource management, staffing and budget structures, land acquisition and restoration processes, as well as branding and program awareness.

The planning process will involve evaluating the current program, researching national best practices for managing urban natural areas, and developing recommendations to support the Urban Wilds Program. This initiative aims to ensure that these natural areas are preserved for future generations while also providing opportunities for passive recreation.

Interested parties can attend a pre-proposal Q&A session on December 9th at 11 AM via Zoom. Registration is required. Proposals must be submitted by January 8th at 5:00 PM EST through the City of Boston Supplier Portal.
