In his proclamation, Governor Newsom stated, "NOW THEREFORE I, GAVIN NEWSOM, Governor of the State of California, do hereby proclaim February 6, 2026, as 'Ronald Reagan Day.'"

The ceremony was attended by government officials and members of the public who gathered to honor President Reagan's memory. The Great Seal of California was affixed to the proclamation as Governor Newsom signed it with Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber as witness.

Governor Newsom also addressed a recent letter from South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem regarding ICE and criminal deportations. This initiative has already seen success with completed homes in Palisades and Altadena.
