TelAve News/10846902
WASHINGTON - TelAve -- Chandra Donelson, author of the hit children's book The Data Detective at the Carnival, is making a real impact by visiting schools and connecting with students. Through interactive readings and discussions, she's helping kids see how data is part of their everyday lives and showing them how to use it to solve problems.
The Data Detective at the Carnival follows William, a curious boy learning to think critically and solve challenges at a carnival. The book has earned over 50 glowing reviews and a 4.9-star rating on Amazon, with parents and teachers praising its fun and simple approach to teaching data literacy.
"Kids are naturally curious, and this book shows them how to use that curiosity to understand the world around them," says Donelson. "Talking to students and seeing their excitement makes it all worthwhile. They're already connecting the ideas from the book to their own lives."

With help from partners, Donelson has donated copies of the book to schools, ensuring that every child has the chance to learn about data literacy. "Every book donated and every school visit is about giving kids the tools to think critically and succeed," Donelson said.
