Chef Betania Salles brings her international culinary experience to IDH's August 29 gala, helping turn an evening of dining and community into support for a future medical center in Haiti.

MIAMI - TelAve -- Chef Betania Salles will be featured at the 2026 Annual Fundraising Gala hosted by Innovation & Development for Haiti, Inc. (IDH) on Saturday, August 29, at the Homestead Community Center.

The evening will bring together supporters from across South Florida for dinner, entertainment, and fundraising in support of IDH's plans to develop a medical center in Haiti.

For Salles, the event is another opportunity to lend her talent to an organization she has supported over the years. Her culinary career has taken her from Brazil to South Florida and across Europe and the Middle East, giving her cooking a broad range of influences.

Chef Betania Salles spent seven years as Chef de Cuisine at Imlee Indian Bistro in Pinecrest, where she received strong reviews from critics and diners. She later served as Chef de Cuisine at The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, where she ran The Fontana Restaurant.

In 2013, Salles joined Ocean Reef Club, first serving as Head Chef of The Islander, its seafood restaurant. She later opened Gianni, the club's Italian restaurant, and went on to serve as Executive Chef of the Carysfort Culinary Arts Kitchen.

Brazilian-born Salles draws on an international background that has taken her through the Middle East, Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Brazil. Her cuisine combines those influences with contemporary American touches and seasonal ingredients. In Brazil, she opened four restaurants over a ten-year period.

"IDH has tremendous respect and appreciation for Chef Betania and for the generosity and support she has shown our organization over the years. Her presence makes the evening even more meaningful as our community comes together to help advance healthcare services in Haiti," said Dr. James Louis-Jean, Director of Innovation & Development for Haiti, Inc.

The gala will also include presentations about IDH's work, entertainment, and a charity auction featuring donated items and experiences.

Since 2021, the organization has supported approximately 600 students in five schools across five communities, sponsored and funded three local soccer tournaments, and provided a generator to support a local church.
IDH is also building a religious community center in Haiti. Construction began in 2024, and the project is now near completion.

The medical center is part of IDH's next phase of work in Haiti, with a growing focus on healthcare and access to essential services.
Individuals, families, businesses, and community organizations are invited to attend the August 29 gala and support the project.
