Chicago: Mayor Brandon Johnson Promotes Career Pathways in Live Entertainment at Lollapalooza and Sueños Career Fair

CHICAGO ~ Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson made an appearance at the fourth annual career fair hosted by Lollapalooza and Sueños at Malcolm X College today. The event aimed to showcase potential employment opportunities in the live entertainment and events industry for young Chicagoans. Over 150 jobseekers and students from City Colleges attended the fair, which featured booths from festival organizations, talent management agencies, hospitality services, and local arts and culture organizations.
In his speech, Mayor Johnson emphasized the importance of providing pathways to employment for young Chicagoans in order to allow them to benefit from the city's renowned cultural events and festivals that contribute significantly to its economy. He also highlighted the partnerships between City Colleges and industry leaders as a means of strengthening both the workforce and economy while providing students with real-world experience.

Tim "Tuba" Smith, Director of Festivals and Strategic Initiatives at C3 Presents - the company behind Lollapalooza and Sueños - expressed their commitment to Chicago beyond just hosting annual festivals in Grant Park. He mentioned their involvement in expanded arts programming at Chicago Public Schools, support for local organizations and nonprofits, as well as hosting this annual career event as ways of giving back to the community. Smith also emphasized their goal of inspiring Chicago's youth to consider careers in the live entertainment industry.
