MINNEAPOLIS - TelAve -- The winners of the Minnesota Association of Government Communicators (MAGC) Northern Lights Contest were announced last week. The City of Columbia Heights, a proud Revize client, took home the Small Entity Northern Lights Award for its 2025 website redesign.

The Northern Lights Awards is an annual contest conducted by the MAGC. The competition recognizes outstanding work in Minnesota's government, educational and nonprofit communications, and provides valuable feedback for all entries from the communications professionals who judge the contest. Based on a mutual agreement with NC3C, the judging panel is made up of North Carolinian government officials to ensure a non-biased grading system.

The Columbia Heights website redesign with Revize improved user friendliness, resident engagement, and the overall modernization of the City's virtual platform. The custom site design highlights the City's emphasis on community events and the importance of an accessible experience for all residents. Key features include a bold calendar design, language translation, an accessibility widget, the incorporation of Columbia Heights branding, and a unique combination of top and side navigation to empower residents to find the information and services they seek.

Will Rottler, Communications and Engagement Coordinator, praised the tremendous collaboration and support that Columbia Heights has received from its website partner. "During the entire redesign process, it was apparent that working with Revize was the best choice for the City of Columbia Heights," Rottler expressed. "As staff, we would ask Revize if they were able to make a certain design or feature happen, and Revize was always supportive of our vision. Instead of a cookie cutter website, Revize worked with us throughout the process to make our website standout."

"We're honored to see the City of Columbia Heights recognized with a Northern Lights Award for its website redesign," said Joseph J. Nagrant, Vice President of Business Development and Marketing at Revize. "This award reflects the City's commitment to creating an accessible, engaging, and user-focused digital experience for its residents. Our team enjoyed collaborating closely with Columbia Heights to bring their vision to life, and we're proud to support communities with websites that not only look great but also make it easier for residents to access information and services."
