City of Idaho Falls Invites Residents and Businesses to Open House on Planned Roundabout at Birch St
TelAve News/10888917
~ The City of Idaho Falls has announced plans to make improvements along Woodruff Avenue in order to enhance safety and improve traffic flow. The project, which will span from Meppen Canal to U.S. 26 (Yellowstone Avenue), aims to address current roadway conditions and make targeted upgrades to support the area's continued growth and mobility.
Community members are invited to learn more about the project and share their feedback at an upcoming public open house. The event will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 25 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at Idaho Falls Fire Station 6, located at 2767 Spitfire St., Idaho Falls, Idaho 83401. Residents will have the opportunity to review the proposed improvements, ask questions to city staff and project representatives, and leave comments on the project.
For those unable to attend the open house, comments can also be submitted via email until Monday, March 2.
Some key improvements for the project include resurfacing the roadway between Meppen Canal and Lincoln Road in order to remove ruts and damaged pavement, as well as reconstructing and widening Woodruff Avenue between Lincoln Road and U.S. 26 to better handle traffic volumes. Additionally, new turn lanes will be added at the Lincoln Road and U.S. 26 intersections in order to improve traffic flow and reduce delays. To improve pedestrian access and safety, new sidewalks will also be installed along the corridor.

Construction is expected to begin in either spring or summer of 2028 with a projected completion date in fall or winter of that same year. However, this timeline is subject to change depending on project funding.
In order to ensure accessibility for all residents, ADA and Title VI accommodations are available with a notice of at least 48 hours. Those who require these accommodations can contact Clifton Koon at Keller Associates by calling TTY/TDD 711 or (800)377-3529 to use Idaho Relay.
The city emphasizes the importance of public input in this process and encourages residents to attend the open house to learn more about the project and provide feedback. This project is part of the City of Idaho Falls' ongoing efforts to invest in transportation infrastructure and improve safety, mobility, and connectivity for all roadway users.
To learn more about the proposed improvements, interested individuals can visit the city's website for additional information.
