City of Long Beach Facilities and Services Thanksgiving Week Schedule

Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, the City of Long Beach has announced its schedule for facilities and services on Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28, 2025.
In observance of the holiday, some city services will be closed while others will remain open with adjusted hours.
On Thanksgiving Day and Friday, the following facilities and services will be open:
- All City parks and trails (excluding El Dorado Nature Center)
- El Dorado Regional Park
- Fire Stations and Lifeguard Station
- Long Beach Airport
- Main Police Station Front Desk
- Refuse and Recycling Collection (offices will be closed but refuse and recycling will be collected as usual)
- Gas Services Dispatch (562.570.2140) open 24/7 for emergency calls
- Water/Sewer Dispatch (562.570.2390) open 24/7 for emergency calls
On Friday, Nov. 28, the following facilities will be open but closed on Thanksgiving Day:
- El Dorado Nature Center (regularly closed Mondays)
- Marina offices (Alamitos Bay Marina, Shoreline Marina), special hours 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The following facilities and services will be closed on both Thanksgiving Day and Friday:
- Billie Jean King Main Library, all branch libraries, including library offices (digital resources available 24/7)

City Hall offices and public services will also be closed on both days, including commercial services typically available at City Hall such as the Permit Center, Cashiering/Payment Processing, Utility Customer Service, Billing and Collections, and Parking Citations.

However, the public is encouraged to utilize the convenient online resources available on the City website for building permit services and bill payment options.
There will be no scheduled street sweeping or enforcement of street sweeping violations on Thanksgiving Day or Friday. Street sweeping will resume its regular schedule on Monday, Dec. 1.
Parking violations, including parking meters, will be enforced on both days unless the meter states "Exempt on Holidays." The days and hours of enforcement are displayed inside the meters.
Trash and recycling collection will continue as scheduled on both Thanksgiving Day and Friday.
The Towing Operations and Vehicle Storage Facility (3111 E. Willow St., between Temple Avenue and Redondo Avenue) will be closed on both days. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with Sunday's being closed as per their regular schedule. Vehicles can still be released outside of these hours for an additional fee.
All Long Beach Public Library locations, including the main phone line, will also be closed on Nov. 27thand 28th but will resume normal operations on Saturday, Nov. 29th. Library patrons are encouraged to utilize the Library's digital resources, including the catalog, downloads, and databases, which are available 24/7.
