City Union Mission launches first-ever feedback surveys to better serve the homeless
TelAve News/10881665
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - TelAve -- City Union Mission, a homeless shelter and rescue mission in Kansas City, launched its first survey partnered with Pulse For Good. The organization launched two surveys at the end of October and are receiving the first batch of responses.
Standing kiosks are located in the women and family center as well as the men's shelter, one kiosk at each location. "I'm really most excited about giving the homeless a voice," said Lynn Johnson, Chief Programs Officer at City Union Mission.
For more than a century, City Union Mission has been serving the homeless. The organization's leaders have recently changed their approach of how they invest in their budget by prioritizing the value of how they serve.
"Last year we knew the importance but we didn't quite understand the value," Johnson said. "So the value makes it a lot easier to invest the budget necessary to move forward."
Johnson said they strive to serve in a baseline religious way he calls "biblical hospitality." If they can provide a homeless person one night in a safe environment, "that's one night that you are not at risk of freezing to death," Johnson said.

City Union Mission offers three various branches of services to rehabilitate the homeless population. They provide emergency services, recovery programs to break the cycle of homelessness or poverty, and prevention services.
Johnson said they are looking forward to incorporating Pulse For Good's kiosks to empower a population that has experienced significant loss. "It allows them after losing to have a say in their life," Johnson said.
Pulse For Good is excited for this newly established partnership with City Union Mission and to help the organization improve their services through gathering feedback. Pulse For Good empowers vulnerable populations by distributing kiosks and surveys to organizations.
