College of Western Idaho Partners with GuardRailz AI to Deliver Custom AI Assistants to faculty and students

NAMPA, Idaho - TelAve -- College of Western Idaho (CWI) is innovating the college experience by partnering with GuardRailz AI, (https://guardrailz.com/ai) a local startup company.

Using Guardrailz, faculty can build course-specific AI assistants, monitor student engagement, and provide personalized AI-driven learning experiences tailored to each student's needs. Students have access to AI-powered resources that can help with improving comprehension, and practicing essential skills while developing AI literacy.

"Artificial Intelligence is clearly a transformative advancement that will shape all our lives," said CWI President Gordon Jones. "As a college dedicated to student learning, we strive to provide not only traditional knowledge but also the latest insights from emerging technologies like AI. We're excited to lean into how AI can inform, educate, and advance the work of our students and faculty."

While other AI tools provide generic chatbot access, GuardRailz AI delivers a fully integrated, educator-driven experience that ensures AI is used responsibly, effectively, and in alignment with academic goals, using multiple multi-modal AI models.

"The key difference with GuardRailz AI is that it's designed for educators first," said Brian Jagger, Founder of GuardRailz AI. "Other AI platforms give students access to a chatbot, but we built a system that puts faculty in control—allowing them to create AI-driven experiences that adapt to each student and align with coursework."

To increase AI education, training, and support to learners CWI launched three new offerings this year
  • Applied Associate Degree: Artificial Intelligence and Cloud Computing.
  • Non-credit, 1 month course AI Foundations in partnership with Guardrailz that teaches participants about AI tools and how to have the best results through effective prompt writing.
  • The CWI Writing Center is opening the inaugural AI Literacy Center as the college-wide source for providing all students with support in AI. This includes navigating AI policies and assignments, ethical approaches, concerns and ideas, all with a focus on developing students' essential AI literacy.
