Colorado: Governor Polis Appoints M. Christina Floyd to the Lake County Court and Jeffrey M. Cure to the Kit Carson County Court

DENVER ~ Governor Polis has made two new appointments to the Colorado court system, filling vacancies in Lake County and Kit Carson County. M. Christina Floyd has been appointed to the Lake County Court in the 5th Judicial District, while Jeffrey M. Cure will take on the role of Kit Carson County Court judge in the 13th Judicial District.

Ms. Floyd brings a wealth of experience to her new position, having served as Founder and Managing Attorney at Rocky Mountain General Counsel, LLC since 2019. Her practice focuses on civil matters and she has previously held positions as County Attorney and Special Counsel for the Lake County Attorney's Office, as well as Presiding Municipal Judge for the City of Leadville.

In addition to her legal career, Ms. Floyd has also been involved in various community organizations and holds a B.S. from Virginia Commonwealth University and a J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law.

Meanwhile, Mr. Cure has been serving as Municipal Judge for the Town of Flagler and Town of Seibert since 2011, handling civil matters on his dockets. He is also a Partner at Richards Carrington, LLC and previously worked as a Partner at CureLaw, PC.

Mr. Cure received his B.A. from Metropolitan State University and his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.

These appointments come after Governor Polis accepted the resignation of Honorable John G. Scott from Lake County Court and announced that Honorable Michael K. Grinnan will retire from Kit Carson County Court effective September 1, 2026.

The Governor's office stated that both appointments are effective immediately and expressed confidence in Ms. Floyd and Mr. Cure's abilities to serve their respective communities with fairness and integrity in their new roles on the bench.
