Colorado Springs: City to observe Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day

~ As the holiday season approaches, the City of Colorado Springs has announced the closure of several administrative and elected offices in observance of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. The closures will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 24, Thursday, Dec. 25, and Thursday, Jan. 1.
Among the offices that will be fully closed are those for Mountain Metropolitan Transit, City Administration Building, City Clerk, City Hall, Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum, Evergreen and Fairview Cemeteries Offices (with gates open to visitors), Municipal Court, Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services Administrative Building, Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site, Sales Tax Office, Sports Office and Therapeutic Recreation Program at Memorial Park, and Starsmore Visitor and Nature Center.
In addition to these closures, some city entities will have adjusted operating hours during this time. Pikes Peak - America's Mountain will be closed on Dec. 25 but will be open on Dec. 24 and Jan. 1 from 9 a.m. with last entry at 3 p.m., weather permitting. For the most current weather conditions at Pikes Peak - America's Mountain, individuals can call (719) 385-7325.

The Sertich Ice Center will have limited public skate hours on Dec. 24 from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., but will be closed on Dec. 25 as well as Dec. 31 for a hockey tournament and Jan. 1 for another hockey tournament.
For those looking to enjoy some ice skating during the holidays at Skate in the Park at Acacia Park presented by Academy Bank can do so during their adjusted schedule from Dec. 31 from 10 a.m.-noon;1-3 p.m.;4-6 p.m.; Jan.1 from1-3 p.m.;4-6 p.m.;7-9 p.m. Walk-up admissions only. Schedule and pricing information can be found at DowntownCS.com/Skate.
Golf enthusiasts can still hit the links at Patty Jewett and Valley Hi municipal golf courses, which will be open on Dec. 24 and 31 at 9 a.m. with the last 18-hole tee time at 10 a.m. and last 9-hole tee time at noon, weather permitting. However, both courses will be closed on Dec. 25 and open again on Jan. 1 with the same adjusted hours.
For those looking to grab a bite to eat after a round of golf, Patty Jewett Bar & Grill and Valley Hi Grill & Pub will be closed on Dec. 24 and Dec. 25.
Westside Community Centers will also be closed from Dec. 22 to Friday, Jan.2 while Deerfield Community Center will be closed from Dec.22 to Friday, Dec.26 as well as on Jan.1.
Lastly, Hillside Community Center will have limited hours during this holiday season as it will be closed from Wednesday, Dec.24 to Friday, Dec.26 as well as Wednesday, Dec.31 to Friday, Jan2.
As the city takes time to celebrate the holidays with their loved ones, these closures and adjusted hours allow for employees to do so while also ensuring that essential services are still available for residents during this time.
