(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Housing Authority's contractor, Emery Sapp & Sons, will be closing Park Avenue between North Providence Road and North Fifth Street starting at 7 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19. This closure is necessary for the completion of water line connections and concrete replacement as part of the East Park Avenue Apartments project.
According to the Columbia Housing Authority, previous phases of this project have also required road closures in the Park Avenue area throughout the fall. To navigate around the closure, drivers will be directed to use East Ash Street via detour signs. Additionally, southbound traffic on North Providence Road will not be allowed to turn left onto Park Avenue and should instead continue to East Ash Street.

To minimize inconvenience for pedestrians, at least one of the two sidewalks adjacent to the work zone will remain open during the project. In case a sidewalk along Park Avenue needs to be closed, signs will guide pedestrians to designated crossing points.
Weather permitting, work is expected to be completed and Park Avenue reopened by 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27. The Columbia Housing Authority urges drivers and pedestrians to plan their routes accordingly during this time period.
