Columbia: East Walnut Street eastbound lane closure between Eighth and Ninth streets begins Jan. 15

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - A temporary closure of the eastbound lane of East Walnut Street will take place on Thursday, Jan. 15, from 7 a.m. onwards. The closure will affect the area between North Eighth and Ninth streets in front of the Guitar Building located at 28 N. Eighth St. This is to facilitate repairs on the parapet wall on the north side of the building by contractor crews. The closure is expected to last until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21, subject to weather conditions.

During this time, sidewalks will remain open for pedestrians and detour signs will be put up to guide traffic around the affected area. The first phase of work along North Eighth Street was successfully completed on Wednesday, Jan. 14.
The repairs are necessary to secure the exterior of the Guitar Building and ensure the safety of passersby. Residents and commuters are advised to plan their routes accordingly and allow for extra travel time during this period of temporary closure.
