The project, which began on May 18, involved various repairs such as cable replacements, concrete repairs, sealant replacements, and expansion joint repairs throughout the garage.

According to city officials, all stairwells and elevators will be fully operational when the garage reopens for hourly parking. However, there may be some areas that are still barricaded as crews complete final work.
Meanwhile, maintenance work is also underway at the Fifth and Walnut Parking Garage. City crews have started power washing the structure from the top level downwards since the week of Aug. 3.
To ensure efficient completion of work at the Fifth and Walnut Parking Garage, drivers are advised to park on the lowest available level whenever possible. Both permit holders and hourly customers are also reminded to check their vehicles daily for updated signage indicating areas where parking may be temporarily unavailable due to ongoing cleaning work.
