Columbia Police release information regarding officer-involved shooting in the 3200 block of East Stadium Boulevard

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Police Department Responds to Officer-Involved Shooting

On the morning of December 25th, Columbia Police officers were called to the 1400 block of Cinnamon Hill for a report of an adult male suspect with a knife. The officers arrived at the scene at approximately 10:09 a.m. and later located the suspect in the 3200 block of East Stadium Boulevard at around 10:48 a.m.

According to police reports, during their investigation, the suspect attempted to assault one of the responding officers with a knife. Despite attempts to subdue him with a Taser, the suspect continued his attack and wounded the officer with his weapon. In response, two other officers discharged their firearms in order to protect themselves and their colleague.

Following the incident, emergency medical care was provided to the suspect who sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Fortunately, none of the officers involved were harmed during the altercation.

Assistance was provided by Missouri State Highway Patrol, Boone County Sheriff's Office, and Emergency Medical Services at the scene. In light of this serious incident, Columbia Police Department has requested assistance from Missouri State Highway Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control (DDCC) to conduct an independent investigation into this officer-involved shooting.

The DDCC personnel arrived promptly and took control of the scene as per standard protocol in such cases. Additionally, Columbia Police Department's Internal Affairs Unit will also review the incident to ensure compliance with internal policies.

While specific details about personnel actions or investigative findings will not be disclosed at this time, it is customary for officers directly involved in such incidents to be placed on administrative leave. The identity of the suspect has not been released yet as this remains an ongoing investigation under Missouri State Highway Patrol's direction.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about this incident to contact Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control at 573-751-1000. Those who wish to provide information anonymously can call CrimeStoppers at 573-875-8477. A cash reward of up to $2,500 may be given to anyone whose information leads to an arrest.

The case number for this incident is 2025-012301. As the investigation continues, any further updates will be released at the discretion of Missouri State Highway Patrol.
