Columbia Police respond to shots fired on Lightpost Court

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Police responded to a shots fired call at the 5600 block of Lightpost Court on November 29th at approximately 10:50 p.m. Upon arrival, officers were led to the suspect, 21-year-old Rodquel Jones, who was located in the 200 block of Sievelle Avenue.

Jones refused to cooperate with authorities and barricaded himself inside his home. In response, CPD's SWAT team was called in and successfully took Jones into custody. A search warrant was obtained by detectives, leading to the discovery of additional evidence related to the crime.

Jones has been arrested on multiple charges including felony stealing, felony resisting arrest, armed criminal action, first-degree harassment, and unlawful use of a weapon. The Columbia Police Department would like to extend their gratitude to the Boone County Sheriff's Department, Columbia Fire Department, Boone County Fire Department, Columbia Transit, University Hospital and the citizens of Columbia for their patience during this incident.

The case number for this incident is 2025-011484 and according to Missouri statutes, Jones could face charges under sections 570.030 (stealing), 575.150 (resisting arrest), 571.015 (armed criminal action), 565.090 (first-degree harassment), and 571.030 (unlawful use of a weapon).
