Columbia Regional Airport sets new record for passenger traffic

TelAve News/10881436
(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Regional Airport (COU) has once again broken its own record for passenger growth, marking another milestone in its history. In October, the airport recorded a total of 14,202 departing passengers, setting a new record.

This achievement can be attributed to the recent addition of daily flights to Chicago O'Hare (ORD) and Denver (DEN) by United Airlines, as well as the continued service to Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) and ORD by American Airlines. The combined arrivals and departures for the month reached 28,810 passengers, indicating a strong preference for convenient and local air travel options among mid-Missouri travelers.

According to airport manager Michael Parks, these numbers reflect the confidence that travelers have in choosing their local airport. He also highlighted how United's new service, along with American Airlines' existing routes, provides access to numerous destinations worldwide while supporting the local economy and saving time for passengers.

The addition of United Airlines' service in late September has been a significant step forward in COU's ongoing growth. It has not only expanded connectivity but also strengthened the airport's position as the preferred choice for central Missouri travelers.

As Thanksgiving approaches, COU is gearing up for an expected surge in passenger volumes. It is projected that over 5,500 travelers will pass through the airport during the holiday week. To ensure a smooth travel experience, airport officials are advising passengers to arrive early, plan ahead and check their flight status directly with their airline before heading to the terminal.

With ongoing parking enhancements and free parking just steps away from the terminal entrance, COU offers both small-airport convenience and big-airport connections through American Airlines and United Airlines. To learn more about these services and amenities, visit FlyCOU.com.
