Columbia: SAVE-A-LIFE: opioid education and naloxone distribution event hosted at Southern Boone County Public Library, Ashland

TelAve News/10845650
(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ COLUMBIA, MO - The Southern Boone County Public Library is teaming up with the Boone County Overdose Response Coalition and Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services (PHHS) to host a SAVE-A-LIFE event on Tuesday, Nov. 12. The event will take place from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the library's location on 109 N Main St in Ashland, MO.

The purpose of this event is to educate the community about opioid overdose prevention and provide access to naloxone, also known as Narcan®, a drug that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. PHHS staff will be present at the event to offer information and brief training for those who are unable to attend the formal presentation.

SAVE-A-LIFE is a monthly series of free events that aim to raise awareness about opioid overdose deaths and how community members can help prevent them through the use of naloxone. This life-saving drug will be available at no cost to participants thanks to a partnership between PHHS and the Missouri Institute for Mental Health (MIMH).

The SAVE-A-LIFE event on Nov. 12 is just one example of how communities can come together to address important issues such as opioid overdose prevention. By providing education and access to life-saving resources like naloxone, we can work towards reducing opioid-related deaths in our community.
